Biography

Murugesh Kandasamy is a senior research scientist at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy, University of Pittsburgh. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in pharmacy from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, India, and earned his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Jadavpur University, India. After completing his doctoral studies, Dr. Murugesh gained industry experience as a Research Scientist in various contract research organizations (CROs) in India, where he was actively involved in developing and validating bioanalytical methods for new drug entities. He then pursued advanced postdoctoral training at two prestigious institutions in the United States: Ivy Brain Tumor Center in Phoenix, Arizona, and the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a Senior Research Scientist in drug discovery, Dr. Murugesh has served as a key DMPK representative across various stages of preclinical and clinical development. His research interests are rooted in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), with a particular focus on physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling. He has considerable experience utilizing modeling and simulation software such as GastroPlus, Phoenix WinNonlin, Simcyp, Monolix®, and R/RStudio.
