Biography
Dr. Patel is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Rohan Research group in the School of Pharmacy. He obtained Bachelors in Pharmacy from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India, MS in Pharmacy from The University of Georgia, Athens, and PhD in Pharmaceutics from Duquesne University School of Pharmacy. After completion of his PhD, he joined Dr. Rohan's group as a Postdoctoral Associate.
Research Interests
Dr. Patel's current primary research focus is in women's health. He is working on the development and scale up of acceptable and affordable pharmaceutical products for prevention of unintended pregnancy, and sexually transmitted infections including HIV and herpes. He is also conducting research on developing diagnostic and treatment strategies for endometriosis. Additionally, Dr. Patel has significant interest in utilizing manufacturing methods such as hot-melt extrusion and 3D printing for developing scalable and innovative dosage forms.In the News
