Overcoming biological barriers for effective and targeted drug delivery
We develop advanced nanoparticle, microparticle, and polymer‑film systems to overcome mucosal and lymphatic barriers. By combining modeling, imaging, and formulation science we aim to understand how drugs reach specific tissues and cells for effective and sustained action. This work is aimed at developing better therapeutic strategies for HIV/STI prevention, herpes, endometriosis, and lymphedema.
Translational drug development for women’s health
We are advancing women’s health by developing drug delivery solutions that address unique biological needs while remaining affordable, acceptable, and accessible. Our work focuses on translational platforms for contraception, STI prevention, and multipurpose prevention technologies. We advance platform technologies like vaginal films and implants into scalable, clinically viable products. Through DoE‑guided optimization, advanced manufacturing, pharmacokinetic studies, and predictive modeling, we are accelerating promising formulations toward IND and clinical translation.
Advanced analytical tools for product development and therapeutic monitoring
We develop non-invasive analytical platforms to accelerate drug product design, manufacturing, and in vivo evaluation. Our work includes novel dissolution systems that better mimic biological environments and NIR-based chemometric and AI-driven models for real-time monitoring of formulation quality and performance. These tools enhance predictive understanding and enable model-informed product development and non-invasive therapeutic drug monitoring, bridging experimental insight with clinical application.
